An international engineering conference organization runs dozens of specialized scientific meetings each year. Its conferences attract world-class chairs, speakers and attendees, but its LinkedIn presence was not doing them justice.
The Challenge
The organization had several LinkedIn pages, including duplicates and affiliated pages with out-of-date logos and descriptions. Promotion depended almost entirely on the organization’s own posts, while its most credible voices (conference chairs, speakers, committee members and past attendees) had large professional networks that were not being tapped. Leaders wanted more engagement and more visibility for priority conferences, built on a foundation their small team could sustain.
What We Did
- LinkedIn foundation: audited known pages and duplicates, recommended which to keep, update, merge or retire, and updated the primary page’s logo, description and organizational information
- Engagement-focused messaging: identified the core audiences, timing and promotional moments for priority conferences, from calls for abstracts to registration deadlines, with content designed to spark conversation, not just announce dates
- Influencer toolkit: ready-to-use sharing copy and guidance so chairs, speakers, committee members and attendees can promote their participation through their own networks
- Reusable content templates: posts for announcements, registration reminders, speaker and chair highlights and “invite a colleague” outreach
- A sustainable posting rhythm: a practical schedule and content calendar that can be reused for future conferences
- Recommendations for growth: next steps and optional opportunities, such as a targeted paid LinkedIn test for a priority conference
Why It Matters
For a conference organization, the people on the program are its most persuasive marketers. A clean LinkedIn foundation gives them something credible to point to, and a simple influencer toolkit turns each chair and speaker into a channel that reaches peers the organization could never reach on its own. The result is a system for growing engagement that the team can keep using, with the option to add hands-on NorthStar support whenever it is ready.
